Members of the Hinsdale Multicultural Arts & Education Association (HMAE) joined community organizations from across the Chicago area at Daley Plaza on October 14, 2026, for a celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Traditional dragon and lion dances brought vibrant color and energy to the celebration

The gathering brought together community leaders, cultural organizations, and residents for a program featuring traditional Chinese arts, cultural performances, and opportunities for community connection.

Colorful dragon and lion dances filled the plaza with energy and excitement, while music, dance, and martial arts performances showcased the richness of Chinese cultural traditions. The event also provided opportunities for participants from different communities to reconnect, share experiences, and build new relationships.

HMAE participated as part of its ongoing collaboration with the Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA). Through this partnership and other community initiatives, HMAE continues to support opportunities for cultural appreciation, artistic expression, and meaningful connections across communities.

For HMAE, participation in this downtown Chicago celebration also complemented its involvement in America 250 activities in Hinsdale, including the Mid-Autumn Festival and America 250 Celebration held on September 27 in partnership with Hinsdale Public Library and the Village of Hinsdale.

From local celebrations in Hinsdale to cultural gatherings in downtown Chicago, HMAE remains committed to bringing people together through arts, education, and community engagement.
